A standard appointment with one of our psychologist's is $180. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, or Psychiatrist you can access Medicare rebates for up to ten sessions per calendar year. The Medicare Rebate for a standard appointment is currently $96.65.
If you require additional sessions once Medicare sessions have been exhausted, or you do not have a current MHCP, you may pay as a private client. You may also use any Private Health fund; however, it is your responsibility to ensure Psychology Services are included as part of your level of cover. Private Health insurance funding cannot be used in conjunction with a MHCP.
A standard group therapy session with a Registered Psychologist is $80 (small group numbers). If you have a MHCP from your GP or Psychiatrist, you can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 additional sessions per calendar year on top of your individual therapy appointments. The Medicare rebate for focussed psychological strategy's (FPS) group therapy is currently $24.65.
For NDIS clients accessing our services, intake and ongoing individual appointments will be charged as per the NDIS Pricing Arrangement and Price Limits Schedule 2024-2025, which is currently $222.99. Any assessment or reporting packages will be quoted, and require 50% deposit payment at commencement of assessment, and final amount paid on receival of final report.
Our psychologists do not write court reports. However, we provide a summary of treatment for third parties with clients written permission. The fee is $220.00 per hour of preparation time plus GST (pro-rata). Discuss with your psychologist your requirements. Reduced rates apply for concession card holders.
Real Minds Psychology offer a limited range of psychological testing and assessments including the Adaptive Behavioural Assessment System, 3rd edition. For more information and pricing, please speak with our team about your requirements. All assessment and reporting packages require 50% deposit payment at commencement of assessment, and final amount to be paid on receival of final report.
Fees are payable on the day of your appointment. The preferred payment method is via our secure Halaxy client management system that holds card details on file. Upon acceptance and engagement with our service, you will have agreed for your card details to be securely stored on the system and charged on the day of your therapy session. Medicare rebates are automatically processed and refunded using the same Halaxy payment system for your convenience. Therefore, it is important to ensure your Medicare and Bank Account details up to date with our administration staff.
For those clients accessing NDIS funding, private invoicing will be arranged.
*Please note, Real Minds Psychology is not a bulk billing practice, however if you are experiencing financial hardship, please don't hesitate to speak to us about options. Reduced rates apply for concession card holders. We are here to help.
*Limited Saturday appointments are available upon request, however, please note these appointments attract a higher fee.
If, for some reason, you need to cancel or postpone your appointment, please give at least 48 hours' notice. If you cancel a regular appointment with 48 hours' notice, then a cancellation fee will not apply. If you cancel an appointment at short notice, i.e. less than 24 hours prior to your appointment, the full fee for your appointment will be charged for the session payable by the individual, service provider or third-party organisation responsible for your account.
If a cancellation was made due to unavoidable circumstances, it will be at Real Minds Psychology’s discretion if fees will be charged. The reason for this is that we allocate one hour to each client and if there is short notice of a cancellation this time often cannot be filled with a client on the waiting list.
There are a number of ways to access our services, either with a referral from your GP with a MHCTP, as part of your NDIS plan, utilising your Private Health Fund or as a private client.
If a referral is made by a psychiatrist or Paediatrician, a referral letter rather than a Mental Health Care Treatment Plan is required.
We also welcome referrals under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
